Hali Tauxe is a visual journalist who doesn’t like writing about herself in the third person.

I work with still and moving images as well as words depending on the needs of the story.

As a photographer for the Tallahassee Democrat, I learned to juggle a number of assignments--from sports to spot news--on tight deadlines. I brought the principles of documentary filmmaking I studied at Elon University to my daily videos.

At Indiana University I strengthened my reporting skills, adding narrative and investigative techniques to my arsenal and working on collaborative projects for the Midwest Center for Investigative Reporting and Gray Media.

Living in Oaxaca, Mexico, I learned to speak Spanish, and how to listen.

I bring all these skills to bear on assignments of any level of complexity. I’m currently taking assignments, and always looking for story ideas.

My work has appeared in the New York Times, Investigate Midwest, USA Today and Harper’s Bazaar, among others.
